After my Braai has been delivered, how do I move it?
When the braai is all packed up for delivery it weighs about 186Kg. The best way to move it is to unwrap it then take all of the components out of and off the braai. Then a manageable 2-man lift.
I have been in contact with you (Kiwibraai), you who have given me a quote for the freight and I've decided to go ahead with a purchase - what do I need to do now and how do I pay?
After you have confirmed you want to go ahead, we will provide an invoice from Kiwibraai Ltd which also includes bank details to enable online banking. Your products will be dispatched within 1 to 2 days of receipt of payment.
Do you accept payment by credit card?
Yes we do. Please note that all purchases by credit card incur a 3.4% surcharge.
Options for payment by credit card are either
- the card is present and we are able to process it through our card reader
- or payment is made through Paypal. If you are not familiar with using Paypal, please let me know and I can provide some detail. Note - we have found it very safe to use.
I've had my Braai for several months and have recently noticed a couple of spots of rust, is this normal?
At some stage, on any exposed steel, rust may appear. This is not a serious problem. Normal treatment is to clean off specks of rust with a wire brush/ steel wool/ sandpaper, neutralize the rust, then touch up with heat resistant matt black fire paint. We recommend Wurth saBesto Rust Converter and Wurth saBesto Matt Black Heat Resistant Lacquer Spray Black. Both of these products are available either direct from Wurth or from The Kiwibraai Company.
We really like the schist cladding that has been used on some of the braais in the gallery. Who can we contact to discuss using this product?
We suggest you contact Cluden Stone Quarry, Wanaka. Their website: http://www.wanaka-schist.co.nz/
What is the fitting inside the Braai – it looks like it is for a light?
Yes, there is a fitting for a light.
My supplier has advised that due to the heat of the Braai it must be wired using silicon wiring.
Regarding the actual bulb: with the cool air flow over the bulb and the fire off to the right, standard light bulbs work fine, though in South Africa they are required to use a closed bulkhead fitting.
We bought our Kiwibraai last year and have a problem with the side rails - they are not lined up and we cannot get the grids/ racks to sit horizontally.
Is the ember box sitting on the rail at the back which it allows it to slide along?
Ah - that solved it. Thank-you.
I can see how that could have happened as the ember box would have been taken out when the braai was being moved and then simply not put back in the correct place.
